Not Quite Dating (Not Quite Series) (Paperback)

Customer Review

After reading by Catherine Bybee already Not Quite Mine (Not Quite series), I thought the book would be complete in itself. Is it basically well, but still there's more stories about the Morrisons. By chance I had then discovered Dating Not Quite what has turned out to be the first band. Attracted by the Table of Contents and Not Quite mine already some prior knowledge of the two main characters of this book, I was very curious.

CONTENTS

Jessie Mann is a single mother and lives with her 5-year-old son and her sister in a small apartment while she pushes the night shifts in order to give their child a carefree life as possible, where his mother also has time for him. Jack Morrison is heir to a billion-dollar hotel chain and is fed up with the women in his life, who do not love only their money, but him. After a day-long bachelor party of his best friend Dean, the two end up together with two other friends very early in the morning to sober up at the diner, working in the Jessie. Jack is immediately fascinated by the woman who so does not want to respond to its charm. He comes here with the idea to impersonate part-time workers and not to reveal his real last name, in the hope of still finding true love. Yet Jessie lays clear the cards on the table: Is the man without means, he is for it is of no interest, because they need someone to support them financially and to her son and to offer a better future. A man for life with a bulging bank account. But all this seems nothing in Jack to change, instead he is more and more fascinated by the young mother and goes on a permanent way, to be near her, to learn more about them. He offers to help her in the search for potential candidates and rich entangled thereby in an ever growing web of lies.

CHARACTERS

Jack Morrison
I liked it from the beginning. He looks good, is charming and his relaxed, witty, but at the same time responsibly really make him a lovable Texas boy. Above all, his methods to make Jessie various "gifts" without betraying in how he procured these have caused more often than a smile with me. It's just too sweet, watch as he constantly tried to convince Jessie despite its setting on a rich suitor and of the fact that true love without money is possible and can make you happy.

Jessie Mann
Is very confident and shows outwardly but more their hard side and hid her soft core. Actually, they can not resist Jack from the outset and the more they naturally try to suppress their feelings, which is obviously not easy, the longer Jack is in their vicinity. Even Jessie was sympathetic to me from the beginning. It is cheeky, funny and stubborn, sometimes a bit naive, but above all very protective when it comes to her son. And going with her about everything. He is the reason why they could so long away from Jack himself. At the same time this is also the reason why they then but eventually leaves Jack in her heart.

The characters in the book have actually convinced me from the beginning, a few supporting characters were a bit pale, such as Jack's father or mother Jessie. In the few performances that they had, I would have liked liked more authenticity. Otherwise all individuals really liked me. Even Monica, Jessie's sister that I was not so great in Not Quite mine, because it has for my taste just too bristled at "experience" and "advice". Here in the first part it is somewhat more reserved and acts more as a support for Jessie. I liked that.

PLOT

The sequence of the story is quite predictable basically, and if you read a book by Catherine Bybee, which is part of this series, then you know actually already that there will be a happy ending. But as I had also read the 2nd part first, I knew already that it ends well. Nevertheless, the action was very amusing, and the way how the two come closer yet, but it may not show properly externally or want, was very entertaining. Especially Jack did a constantly tired. What I also liked here was that not big on trappings events was respected, but that the main story quickly ran ahead. Any branches in subplots were only disturbed. So you do not have to wait long until the two meet again. Only the final seemed a little fast. The problems have been solved a bit too quickly. But maybe that's also because I had the whole sequence of the finale imagined anything but / would have liked. What struck me in both books, is that in the end always turns up Morrison Senior and crashes all a bit into chaos. Here in Part I of the chalk is not. In the second I'd been doing it for more. The crude repetition of fully coming chaos by the arrival of the father is then but a bit unimaginative for me.

CONCLUSION

An entertaining romance with lots of charm, cowboy hat and likeable characters, then let fly the sheets. I liked even better than like Not Quite Mine Not Quite Dating. Therefore, there is also full star number, despite some teeny weaknesses. Because even though I have the end of a bit of criticism, I must at the same time admit that it suits this type books. I came books on the taste of Catherine Bybees and can now hardly wait until the third part of the "Not Quite" series appears, where it then goes to Monica.
