Let Them Talk (Audio CD)

Customer Review

and in the best sense of the word! Hugh Laurie returns with "Let Them Talk" from a Southern Bue's album of the highest quality at the listener and it is to be hoped that this does not remain a one-time trip from acting. When I found last year in the booklet of the new Meat Loaf album "Hang cool teddy bear" his photograph among the list of participating musicians, I was somewhat surprised. On the album he hits the song "If I Can not Have You" so passionate, ambitious in the keys of the piano that immediately disappeared all doubt. This man is not a famous actor, the Just want to make music, the man is a musician, who earns his money with acting.

And when his debut album was announced, I had no doubt, there comes no meter, there comes an album of a mature musician who has little longer gejobt before his first album as an actor. My expectation was not only met, special far exceeded! "Sounds like" comparisons are always difficult, but each of the albums like "Closing Time," "The Heart of Saturday Night", "Small Change" or "Heart Attack and Vine" loves the early Tom Waits, who is at the Billy Joel albums "52nd Street", "Piano Man" and "The Stranger" a touch more Blues would have liked in the Arragements, or the current Tom Jones album "Praise and Blame" classifies as difficult succeeded will find on Hugh Laurie's first plate big favor, no doubt! Nota bene, Tom Jones is located at 14 song of the album "Baby, please make a change," the honor and support Laurie vocally, very great shot!

Great is außnahmslos the entire album, wonderful piano passages (Piano plays Laurie consistently even), the finest blues musicians on each instrument, magnificent arrangements of great songs. This album will be known in 30 or 40 years from now, a classic! Is it worth the rather expensive deluxe edition? If you as so outstanding album feels like me, then absolutely. Three other songs and a very oppulentes cover in book format with plenty of good photos of the recording sessions. This high-quality presentation ensures the album as well as visually in the status of CD rack, it deserves. It is striking!

==================== Complement the CD + DVD edition ====================

This concludes my review immediately after the album was released in late April and ended up without detours in my player. Good eight months later I sign still every word. The year is almost and "Let Them Talk" is definitely one of the albums of 2011!

In addition to the standard version of the album (15 tracks) and favored with noble issue with lush photo book and bonus disc incl. Three additional songs, the album will appear in time for Christmas in another edition. To appease the commerce blusterer same, the added added DVD alone were published not have been significantly cheaper, and the CD also contains three more new songs (other than on the bonus CD of the book format) and a live recording of "" You do not know my mind "from Paris.

If you have the album thus already in the book version, this is a wonderful addition. If you have the standard edition, you can give them courage, and another man with the infecting virus Hugh Laurie.
The added songs taken alone make the album even better, but are a nice addition, but the DVD is an hour most agreeable conversation!

"A celebration of New Orleans Blues" is not a pure live recording, but a love letter to the Mother city of Blues, with Hugh Laurie is trying not to adjust his infatuation in this dusty music metropolis one second her surrenders enthusiastic. Laurie shows and explains one of the city in a way that one is inclined to book after going through the DVD the next flight.
Of course, the DVD of music, the songs on the album dominated. In a verranzten Club in New Orleans Laurie plays with his musicians most of the songs of the album in glorious version. The album in itself is free from rigid Arragements, here is now but played really free drauflos. Sympatisch that he invited plenty scene greats of the city and unpretentious here the main vocals and there lies over the guests what the DVD versions of those pieces of music again changed thoroughly.

And even Tom Jones came to New Orlen to celebrate with Laurie "Baby please make a change" - a highlight!
Hug I would want to Hugh Laurie, for comment, in the car on New Orleans zufahrend fell casually:
(Mutatis mutandis) "You know, all kinds of music you know and perhaps love - jazz, folk, rock, country and pop, that's all nonsense not the music Categories This is only important for record stores because they want to sort somehow! ... "

Buy again? Yes absolutely!
(The DVD, however, is only original sound and without subtitles. Normal road English but enough to understand.)
