Disadvantages:
- No Steinpreparierer (when T7 model included)
- Insufficient manual
- Plastic case
- No additional safety switch
- Hardly Accessories
Until now I had as a Hobbydrechslerin Sheppach Tiger 2000 use, but as the wave from the beginning had a 8ter there
and I'm sick of the tiresome touching up, I wanted to buy myself a little higher-quality grinding machine, which is hopefully freed
of any teething problems.
As soon pending the acquisition of a larger lathe, but I did not buy the whole shop also ;-)
I work a lot with hard or stabilized woods and therefore often have to re-grinding, a system where you can quickly repeat the same cut,
is therefore essential for me.
The necessary accessories in the form of grinding aids, which are anyway tuned to the Tormek so was already available and the way to reach T3.
The shipment via Amazon, proceeded as always smooth.
Home was the machine then unpacked with great anticipation. The first positive surprise: the assembly of the grindstone with the EzyLock system
is really idiot-safe, no tilting, no too tight or too loose turn possible.
Simply remove the protective sleeve, stone span and then secure it with the little black, to self-tightening flange.
Next unfortunately negative surprise: No safety switch (RCD) between outlet and appliance, the cable runs directly into the machine,
that makes me then but are somewhat taken aback and unfortunately is also here no precise information in the attached information sheets,
whether any additional security is built into the device, which leaves the next big minus point for me.
There are indeed included an incredible number of promotional information about any of these accessories (as well as an incredible amount of information to T7) but shockingly little information about the machine actually purchased!
No information as a wet grinding machine is ever used, how much water is in the tank, what to look for etc.
I had expected it a little introduction on the DVD are at least as well as only the grinding devices are successively presented and all demonstrated at T7.
But we come to the actual grinding: The machine runs almost silently, which means a significant improvement to Sheppach! The stone runs smoothly, no lurching not vibrate just clean in circles!
The Universal Support is easy to mount and can be adjusted easily by the fine adjustment in the form of a wheel. The grindstone itself seemed at first almost too smooth ago when I could so actually grind a new phase but I was a better informed.
I first sanded an oval chisel and my new roughing gouge and just the Oval Meissen you can see if a machine is any good or not, whether the blade at the end of straight and is especially sharp. Both chisels I was not disappointed here!
Some of my Vorrezensenten complain about the small stone and the few place that you have on the machine. I suppose at times strongly that it is because that gouge or which knife you want to grind. Since I mainly use the machine for gouge that most use a blade with a width of 19mm, I have enough space on the stone over.
Who of course drechselt large Schahlen and accordingly has tools so of course will not do.
What I think is a shame that came with not even a Stone Grader, here Tormek really should be more generous to its customers, as well as 299.00 are no small price, and although I may not even get the accessories for dressing, I find that very sad.
Conclusion: Solid machine that should afford what if you want to have decent and if you do not have to grind all too large utilities against it.
Actually, I'd like to here 5 star but give the missing RCDs and inadequate instructions for use, as well as the lack of Stone Grader let me pull off a star.
I hope this review helps one or the other in their purchasing decision.
