Hyperion and its sequel (The Fall of Hyperion) is one of the greatest novels of all time; neither more nor less. Sure oriented science fiction in his "speculative fiction" category, but it could be as well Adventure, philosophy or metaphysics, but yes! do you think seriously about the implications of Teilhard de Chardin's theology? read Hyperion! and in addition you will be taken (e) in such a powerful story that can not let go of the book. As rich and probably deeper than most of the Bible, that is said. And if you liked it in the end, I think you can drop Endymion and its sequel (razors possible, too forced in the philosophical approach). But against appointment with Ilium and Olympos, again pests intelligence cocktails and culture all azimuths .. Happy reading.
