In 1978 I was a regular reader of the magazine "Pardon", presented the even LP's. At the time I was 20 years old. Without ever having heard something from Springsteen, I've bought the LP. Years later, I put the CD to me. (In addition, all studio and live albums and some DVD's are in my music rack.) "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" is for me personally the most important and musically intense album among the many outstanding works that Springsteen has released. It holds an incredible emotional tension in itself. Even after 35 years I hear "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" still extremely happy. Also I was pleased that he brought out with "The Promise", a CD with songs from this period. "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" includes many classics from his repertoire live. Specifically, I have to this song not go into here; However, they would like to mention briefly: "Badlands", "The Promised Land", "Prove It All Night", "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" and "Streets Of Fire". But the other songs are very first cream in Springsteen's oeuvre. What a superior force is Springsteen's voice in "Adam Raised The Cain". I get this even today goosebumps. In addition, in this song, the guitar is played just heartbreaking.
As I write these lines, the CD runs in the background and keeps me from continuing to write almost because I believe that I am not sufficiently worthy of my review "Darkness On The Edge Of Town". I simply lack the superlatives. If I "In The Street Racing" hear the ballad, I'm still taken. No, this album has absolutely no failures and perhaps it is one of the best rock albums of all time. To give only five stars this is really an impertinence. But I agree, of course all of that just like this as I am.
People who "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" do not know, there should also perhaps. I want to put this album warmly recommend. It is a gripping testament to excellent rock music! At this point I would like to highlight the very good reviews of "wa-tec" and "Gerhard Bauer".
