The flow concept of Csikszentmihalyi has become a classic in many areas of psychology; Interestingly, the term has also been very popularized and now on everyone's lips - from the fitness magazine to performance artists. For this reason alone it is worth reading this book. On the other hand, it is no less than one I think is very valuable self-help book. Csikszentmihalyi is perhaps a little too much convinced of the flow as the panacea social and personal grievances. Basically, however, "Flow" actually describes the condition in which you can most likely talking about mental health. Flow is not necessarily synonymous to happiness, but that happiness is always at least either part or consequence of the flow experience. Csikszentmihalyi sees human consciousness as a chaotic, anxiety-making system - similar (in externalized form) increasingly complex and dynamic society. In the state of flows of this chaos-feeling will be neutralized by a structured, self-directed activity and having replaced with a sense of control. The flow state is characterized by the following points: - occurs with activity that we can accomplish - it is able to concentrate fully on the activity - the activity has clear objectives and provides immediate feedback on the success or failure - you is fully in action, and forget the worries and problems - you're having fun in the activities and have the feeling to control the flow - the sense of time is relativized; Hours pass like minutes and vice versa. Conveniently, embeds its approach Csikszentmihalyi culturally and biologically one. He also describes in detail the various legal areas where you can experience flow - here acts the book as a guide. In my opinion, a liquid-written and very inspiring book. (This is an Amazon.com at the university-student review.)
