Living With War (Audio CD)

Customer Review

... By Prairie Wind, which nevertheless very acoustically came along. Why thunder? We are dealing with LWW with a political anti-war statement - and Neil formulates his opinion clear as rare. He has so much to say that the pieces before text almost burst. It is a remarkable statement against the war in Iraq (after the Garden, Living With War) and against the regime of Bush and company (Let's Impeach the President, Lookin 'For A Leader). But Neil Young has not only something to say here against the war, he also sings the praises of the true American "Spirit", for example. In the songs "Family" or "America the Beautiful". The latter song (also the completion of the work) is actually a redefinition of "National Anthems", ie a capella sung by a choir and really poignant.

LWW has stirred up so much dust in advance, some of the American NY fans say away from him. OK then; Music over which one can discuss controversial, is always good! About the music: The disc is recorded in good Crazy Horse-style. To brute guitar a choir joins (probably to underline the messages and to show that Neil not alone on a limb with his opinion stands) and a trumpet player. This makes a written record some fear, but: both fits excellently into the music. Musically is nothing new on offer (see. "Flags of Freedom" with "Barstool Blues"), but also does not have to. Proven must not be changed. The disk like it because it was recorded spontaneously and therefore rough and uncouth comes - comparable with the album "Broken Arrow". An absolute buy recommendation and for me the surprise of the year!
