One might think that it's getting boring. All Tuomas Holopainen touches turns to platinum. And yet I was in the beginning, now we say ... a little disappointed. That was not just me, as I notice, for "Century Child" opens up not quite as light as the Vorgängeralbem that you often already learned to love at first insertion. Initially, it sounds a little simplistic. This CD belongs to REPEAT asked. Because after a few runs it crashes so pure that you can not get enough. One might be disappointed that with bassist Sami a long-time companion is gone, yet Marco is an extreme appreciation. The man has the absolute killer voice! That fits like chalk and cheese and ungheimlich good to Tarja who gives the best ever vocal performance here. The album is pretty grim, no wonder, because Tuomas makes no secret of the fact that it was pretty bad to him. But "Wishmaster" is absolutely exceeded, but are not remotely comparable with "Century Child". Of course Nightwish still sound like Nightwish, but here there is no Wishmaster 2, as many thought genaussowenig as there will be no Oceanborn 2. And that's just as well. Holopainen is evolving, this time working with real choir and Marco just as "second" singer. The weakest piece is for me now, "Phantom of the Opera", and although I love the song. He is also well received at last time, but he is not exactly Nightwish and it shows. The album is worth every single penny and belongs in every collection, whether classical, metal, gothic or God knows what you preferred. I can only agree with the colleagues who will pray to Finland. That seems to be contagious. The album reached after less than two weeks platinum status in Finland. So many Finns could not be wrong. Clear result: Those who are not buying your own fault.
