As a five year old John Lennon is forced to choose between his mother and his father. He finally chooses his mother and continues to grow by his uncle and his aunt. Lennon was fourteen years old when his beloved Uncle George died. Lennon is seventeen years old when his mother, Julia, in a traffic accident is killed. Lennon twenty-one years old when his best friend Stuart Suitcliffe dies. With none of these early tragedies John Lennon held long. He swallowed and ticked off. But then quickly continue! No time to grieve! Especially not during the Beatlemania. And certainly if you had any more drugs. The end of 1970 Lennon is thirty years, and published his first real solo album "John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band". At thirty a man begins to devote himself to his past, to deal with this in the truest sense of the word. And how! "Mother, you had me but I never had you" Lennon sings the song "Mother" and are immediately in front of the direction. At the end of the play he no longer sings, it cries and it is always the same words: "Mama do not go Daddy come home!" Words that are recited as intense and with such desperation that they have unavoidable leave a dumb listener. "Mother" initiates the most personal, most honest and in this honesty, heaviest album of a rock star. Just as the first track, the entire work is very economical, even orchestrated almost scanty. In this way is a lot of space, which John Lennon as a singer and - moving - fill with his person knows. Everything is a far cry from the crazy orchestral sounds in "A Day In The Life" or the texts on drugs raised "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" or "I Am The Walrus". Never was John Lennon real, he never was more: John Lennon! Who appears as a producer for such a work unsuitable as Phil Spector?!? Indeed, one can hardly believe it, but: Produced by Phil Spector. Nothing reminds us of the Spector-bombast that one knew of his earlier works. "Plastic Ono Band" is really simple, so incredibly right. In folk song "Working Class Hero" we meet the Lennon from Liverpool days, the student, the student who against the system, against the rebels, who want to dictate his life. Located Lennon is quite the old rebel. The piece can be as calm as phrases like "Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV / And you think you're so clever and classless and free / But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see / A Working Class Hero is something to be ... "There is great anger in the air. Each time it is expected that he starts to scream again. But it remains reasonably quiet. Click on "Isolation" we get to know a completely insecure, tormented by fears superstar who has little to do with Lennon with confidence brimming just so. A man who wants to change the world, but already breaks on his own life. And - the worst thing for him - he does not even know who is to blame, because every person is indeed only "a victim of the insane". At the end of the song then the ominous prophecy "The sun will never disappear / But the world may not have many years / Isolation!" But it may still so much grief, pain and fear stuck in this album, a bit of hope makes us the ex-Beatle. In between - though extremely rare - one is reminded every now and then on the bright side of life. On the love! Decides between the sudden explosion, the "Remember" and the harsh, hard rockin '"Well Well Well" you can hear Lennon's ode to love. The love that is so close. The song is called quite simply "Love". The singing is so fragile on innocent way that you just have to believe the words of the singer. Two hundred seconds can save lives. Beautifully! Also "Hold On" gives us hope. Is Lennon in the first stanza yet with him and Yoko, of course, with Yoko, busy as he is then in the second part of the song all of us all John Lennon. "Hold on world, World Hold On / It's gonna be alright / You gonna see the light / And When You're one / Really one / Well you get things done / Like They Never Been Done ..." The artist as Utopian. Perhaps an anticipation of "Imagine". However, right after "Hold On" Lennon is again completely changed. Almost punky sounds Seeming the ugliest Lennon, one can only imagine the "I Found Out". As if he would return beat us preferably on the basis of facts. Later, with "Look at me" it is quite calm again. As is well again this fragility in the voice of the singer. And he asks "Who am I supposed to be?" or "What am I supposed to be?" or simply: "Who am I?" "Nobody knows but me." He seems to know at this time the answer already, the handset comes the matter only on the penultimate song on the album closer. In "God" Lennon proclaimed "I do not believe in magic / I do not believe in I-ching / I do not believe in bible ..." He still leads to a lot more, and finally it is finally: "I do not believe in Beatles!" Determined renounced John Lennon all fantasies, all myths and legends, all phantoms of his life. He leaves the past behind them to "believe I just in me / Yoko and me / And that's reality" to announce with great cordiality. What is ultimately left only John Lennon. Lennon has found himself, the dream is over and "My Mummy's Dead": This is sad. John Lennon has learned to cry and we cry with him. At the beginning of "Mother" are heard death knell. Ten years later, begins his last published during his lifetime album "Double Fantasy" with a cheerful jingle. In these ten years, John Lennon has found his peace, but never again the strength and intensity of "John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band"!
