Thus, over 285 pages of John Krakauer tried to introduce Chris McCandless, without ever having met him, according to testimony left by people who have crossed his path and his family. But of course, all this is very thin and it seems to have only a very partial picture of the personality of this young man. The author must realize, he who fills voids in the history of other men who have had similar experiences.
If people could judge Chris McCandless from information collected in this book in particular, I would be unable, because at the end of my reading, I still know almost nothing about him. Even his diary is pretty empty and underlining passages of some chapters of books placed epigraphs is not really very useful to know the character. At most, they give us an indication of what has been the mark or attract the attention.
