As an inner journey

The Last King of Angkor (Paperback)

Customer Review

Jean-Luc Coatalem has loyal readers, not attached to this winged writer, whose journey is passion, love with his fluid style of his absurd humor, lightness in his deep, making it like a sweet cousin of the great Anglo -saxons, Paul Theroux, for example .. The change of register that operates in The Last King of Angkor rout a little but the book is so personal that it becomes endearing, wrote in an almost modianesque tone, with its back and forth from childhood to middle age and the obsessive quest of the Indochinese brother, in large part fantasized. "Find and you will learn what you seek," said a Khmer proverb, which draws like a red thread in this novel that beautifully wanders through the maze of Angkor, this earthly Atlantis covered by jungle. It is a pleasure to follow Coatalem this journey in Asia that is above all an inner journey, dense, lush and sometimes painful.
