The XORO HMT 380, for which I had written a review is now "dead" for the second time due to poor quality and at some point I will then just get tired, so it had to be something new!
In direct comparison the SoundPad 400 "liquid" on inputs responded clear here is obviously a slightly more powerful hardware installed, but especially a newer Android 4.4 is installed, which consumes significantly less resources than the older versions.
Thanks to Android can indeed install alternative apps and so I use as an alarm clock app "Alarm Clock Plus (NoAds)" and as an Internet Radio "TuneIn Radio Pro", so I have everything I need to perfect clock radio, on the surface of the alarm clock I've also placed a weather widget, so I am informed in the morning while raising the same about the weather.
The pre-installed apps, I have not even tried, it just disables various apps, because I'm not going to use them on an alarm clock (Facebook, etc.) and they unfortunately can not be uninstall. But this is a fundamental problem in Android devices, regardless of whether a clock radio, tablet or smartphone ... But are not preinstalled on the 400 SoundPad luckily so many useless apps.
In another review has been criticized that the language would be set to English ...
The first question when setting equals the country after ...
If you select Germany, then the rest is in German ... Android is appropriate at this point really for each user. As you can not deal with it is not obvious to me ...
A noise in the standby I can not hear, the sound is pleasant in the offices of my area, but I try with a small clock radio not to sound for my house, I use the radio more to fall asleep, and then, of course, at its most quiet setting .. ,
The installed battery I see as a "battery backup" in case of a power outage, much further it is not enough to halt.
The remote control is a nice add-on, the battery cover can be of a mediocre talented Grobmotoriker like me very simply open the corresponding review in which it was criticized, I really can not understand at this point ...
When an alarm clock but I also need definitely no remote ...
The design is a matter of taste and I could imagine a more simplistic design is very good, but the processing is, though not outstanding, yet ok and the price is reasonable.
Now, if the quality is better than the XORO (which will indeed only become clear over time), then I can here really a recommendation!
I'm definitely with this device so far quite satisfied!
One only shortcoming I noticed so far: The volume can not be adjusted too finely, so that it is the lower volume for me is just too noisy to sleep! That would be a request for a possible firmware update! Why because the other hand, just let so finely adjust the volume twice?
