I bought this stick with his big brother (Sandisk Extreme Cruzer Contour 8GB). While I can not mention any detailed figures, but can say with absolute certainty that the Extreme Stick is significantly faster. But for the cost significantly more money. You just get what you pay for. I am satisfied with two sticks. As for the much-discussed shift mechanism, I can report anything negative. Especially when "normal" Cruzer The mechanism is simple and therefore probably not very susceptible to damage. When Extreme a somewhat more complicated mechanics behind it (the one or the other might be too stiff feel) but also works perfectly. When "normal" Cruzer also lacks a cover for the USB connector, which is also integrated in Extreme Cruzer in the sliding mechanism. This is indeed criticized by many people, I think pesrönlich such coverage - and actually the whole sliding mechanism - absolutely unnecessary. The cover is well protected against dust and dirt, but I had in this regard nor any of my USB sticks a problem. By design, the Extreme Cruzer is of course the absolute winner, but also falls significantly larger and heavier.
The "normal" Cruzer I only use the car when music storage. The data it only occasionally changing times, so the reading and writing rate was only secondary. In contrast to the Cruzer Contour Extreme ... this is for the daily "data-back-and-forth" thought, why me the speed was particularly important. I have therefore looked at various tests on the Internet, while the Extreme Stick has usually done very well. I can only confirm this from my own experience. But who does not quite high demands will be very pleased with the "normal" Sandisk Cruzer USB 8GB. All others should pick up the SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour 8GB.
