I do not get it, after I read some good reviews about this game, and even got a recommendation for this game by a good friend, whose opinion I have always appreciated the JRPG area, I sat down with anticipation to the game ... and was bitterly disappointed. I guess a lot of positive reviews reaps the game of nostalgic fans who were blinded at the time of the appearance of the (for that time) fairly good graphics of the game, and probably because there were few alternatives RPG, had little experience in the genre. From today's perspective, I see to buy this game for a reasonably experienced roleplayers no reason. Even back then offered the game really nothing special: The Charaktäre are extremely clichéd and shallow. No one grows a particularly fond. The little romance that occurs in the game will not be developed and annoying rather by the high kitsch factor. This makes almost any RPG that I know better - and I know a lot. The soundtrack is awful monotonous, "blare" the pieces are all in front of him, the battle theme is already enormously after a few battles on the spirit. The gameplay is stupid, fighting degenerated into a pure game of skill (press the right moment the X button or nothing happens, then again and again, and all in different variations, this is then called "Skills"). A magic system that could offset this criticism is virtually non-existent, just as one has Dragoon some magic spells. However, since these have an incredibly long and kindergarten-pseudo-cool cast animation (I have more than a minute stopped for a spell - a summary there are not), and also still are extremely useless, and that's more on my nerves, as it impresses. A special Itemvielfalt is not noticed. The world map can be committed only along predetermined point lines and has no freedom. The game still has no side quests, mini-games or other nice-to-have's. The graphics are certainly have been very good for its time, the pre-rendered backgrounds look good and you took care of many small details (water animations etc.), here too some strange design decisions were made: A multi-storey relatively large house, for example, was in the side view of quasi completely pressed in cross-section on the screen - a minor complaint, but who has shown me that was working here part amateurish. The story and the gameplay are full as the Charaktäre against clichés. Since there are dragons kidnapped virgins warrior bride with super powers ... the obligatory ghost ship (Heaven help! That was already a bit tiring). A few nice twists, but overall not very convincing. As other games give more effort. I liked the game made little fun, a serious comparison with the FF-parts on the PSX keeps the game was not. Similarly, a comparison with the even older SNES RPGs. To me, the game gives the impression that people like to ascribe today's games, a pure Graphic Blender. Who RPG experience and once again want to gamble an old game that he vll not know, I can only advise: Not everything was better before - LOD, for example. Accesses prefer (for zigten time) to the old FFs or searches you something completely different. Even the nostalgic among you, I advise again exactly to watch the game - it could change your opinion fundamentally.
2 stars for the graphics, the rest is good in my eyes a lot.
