What did not work for me, was the connection of another external hard drive via USB to the LinkStation, eg for data backup. The connection to this disk (Maxtor 300 GB, about 2 years old) went several times a day lost and had to be made about the slow admin tool or by restarting the LinkStation again. In the end I reconnected the hard drive directly to the PC.
The use of the LinkStation as a Print Server (under Vista and with an HP LaserJet) has so far not even work. The German-language support (via email) is very hard, but it does still not work.
Conclusion: If the device is to be used only as network storage, I can recommend it without hesitation. Everything else has at least not really work for me. Overall, the installation and the establishment presupposes a little computer know-how. Computer newbies will probably do as quite heavy. Since the connection of a hard disk via USB directly on the PC is much easier.
