I have now been over 3 weeks my Wenger Carbon backpack and I must say, I feel much more secure. Whether it is a purely subjective assessment, I can not judge at present. In any case, it brought seemed very safe for longer journeys.
Only the access to the castle proves very annoying in short-term unblocking actions, since it is always the entire lock must be removed. But that certainly varies by application area. Anyway, it should be noted that the lock makes a solid impression at least for the first access. The luggage should not be left unattended, however.
Let me explain why: You can hear when adjusting the combination achieved significantly clicking in the castle. For the layman, it is thus easily possible that lock can be opened without the presence of the owner quickly and without violence. That is the reason for the 3 star rating. Here ABUS must rework tidy. It is here of ABUS just wont better.
Even I would recommend the castle as a certified TSA lock without problem, not problems mentioned above, and also the fact that TSA has nothing left to prove in intercontinental flights would be there. So it is increasingly happened that certified locks renowned manufacturers were simply broken, and thus got the reputation of the manufacturer into disrepute. Upon arrival in the respective destination country simply did not have the locks. Now some TSA locks are not cheap. Therefore many travelers come across the idea bitter whether such locks still worthwhile.
Generally it is said that a waiver of TSA locks can been worse in the event of damage, as the presence and successful repudiation. Because some flight insurance rely on the provision of so-called TSA locks when traveling to so-called declarable countries. Which countries exactly betriftt, you may get better in time at your travel agency.
Anyway, it never hurts to run a secure lock at all times. It is the entry to the US bepflichtet luggage with a TSA lock, otherwise it will be broken up in order to determine the content freely. And quite often which is really expensive. So hold rather well in advance any documentation when it is too late;)
