--- --- INSTALLATION
The game is distributed on 2 DVDs and has about 17 GB on the hard disk. The installation took
with me for about 30 minutes, after copying the data the game online must be activated.
The time required for this is only a few seconds, then the connection can be cut.
The game also requires a "Windows Live" account, but are having an off-line account
satisfied, that is:
- Only enter a nickname
- No internet connection required
- No personal information is required
- No registration required
- No account bond
Time required: less than 1 minute.
Those like me who has already an offline account, must not worry about it.
--- GAMEPLAY ---
Anyone who has played the first part, feels at home immediately again. The well-done free-flow combat system
was acquired by the predecessor and added some moves and special attacks.
Even large groups are not a problem and through the many different moves and supple
Animations, it is to beat a real pleasure, the henchmen of Gotham's villains,
along the lines of: Next, please!
The combat control is too cluttered for my taste already. The whole in
Course of the game available Spzial attacks I actually hardly used because I also
with "normal" means was often victorious and during a mass brawl not to
the different possible key combinations thought.
The venue, Arkham City is a dark patch, dirty, full of felons. The Area
has a good size, is built very detailed and reminiscent in style to repeatedly
on the first two films in which Tim Burton was directing and Michael Keaton mimed the dark avenger.
At every turn there is something new to discover, not only the more than 400 puzzles and trophies of the Riddler,
that we know already from the first part, but this time we need plenty of ingenuity,
to get at all the trophies. Basically me the gameplay has often reminiscent of Assassin's Creed.
The main story is just like the side missions designed down to the smallest detail.
Never come to this typical "fetch and carry" feeling where has suffered so many different game.
In my opinion, reference quality, which is offered to the players here.
That one also must control Catwoman in small episodes, brings a lot of variety and
also makes a lot of fun. It has a completely own repertoire of attack moves and weapons.
--- TECHNICAL ---
On my system (Intel i5-750, 4GB RAM, GTX 470) running the game
with the following settings always liquid:
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Details: Very High
DirectX11: Off
Antialiasing 2x MSAA (In 8xMSAA there are always hangers in the game)
PhysX: Normal
NVIDIA 3D Vision: ON
My GTX 470 was indeed well-utilized, but was not overly hot, the maximum
Assignment of the V-RAM was about 1050 MB.
The graphics are a bit better than the previous owners and a Nvidia graphics card can
happy again about fun PhysX effects. Smoke, flying particles and
waving in the wind flags deepen the already harmonious atmosphere again to a good deal.
The 3D support is exemplary. The performance decreases only slightly and the 3D effect
is outstanding. Especially in the scenes there are many beautiful pop-outs and
an extremely good depth effect. No distracting ghosting and only isolated incorrectly positioned
Textures not spoil the overall impression - thumbs up.
Throughout the game, there were no crashes still bugs only once when I play
have exceptionally started from the launcher, the program has hung at the start screen.
I now start on the desktop icon or the DVD autorun window, then there are no problems.
--- --- CONCLUSION
And again it has managed to Arkham Asylum to pull me into its spell Batman.
Great graphics, gloomy atmosphere, visually stunning fights and quality issues
are the right ingredients for an entertaining gaming experience.
Arkham City wins without a doubt, to maintain the high level of its predecessor and therefore
there is of mine, the full score and an unlimited buying recommendation.
