Chris Hülsbeck has not brought out the in my eyes by far, what would have been possible. Apart from the sound quality, which is more than excellent, he has failed in some respects to rise and this soundtrack from the 8- or 16-bit sector and / or to give the whole thing a little more atmosphere and power.
Titles lacks very prevalent on assertiveness, the selected synth sounds and rhythms are often characterized by an almost infantile playfulness, uncomfortably high pitches and infelicitous instrumentations from. The compositions are generally good, but (old) known, enriched in some cases only by longer seasons and advanced synth sounds.
Title such. B. "Concerto for laser and Enemies" or tracks from the SNES game "Super Turrican 2", located on the fourth CD as "Born to be wild", "Even wild" or "Face the Sunset ", are in the original grandiose compositions full of dynamics, and offer really so much potential for a few minutes rousing, pulsating action, disappoint here but with (sorry, my opinion) popeligem, infantile synth strumming, entrain in place by powerful rhythms, and ends abruptly and then partially with samples that sound like a "Pffffft" and where with me involuntarily gives the impression that one could track at the end even let out the air.
Chris has my highest respect and my deep gratitude for all he has done for my ears. He is and remains a great composer, and this soundtrack is for fans and lovers an absolute must-have! Unfortunately, however, he has left an incredible opportunity wasted: and one of its largest and most magnificent masterpieces, the Turrican-Soundtrack to perfect a powerful, emotional goosebumps legend!
