With TC-14E II me both lenses have not fallen. You could see clearly the reduced resolution. With TC-20E III, the 2,8er Zoom something was "sharper" in the same panel.
The bottom line I could cut out in approximately the same quality teleconverter the same image with the "digital converter" (cropping thanks to 36MP). Ie on the use you can also do without equal, but one is rewarded with a shorter exposure time.
One should not forget that while you get in the 4p with TC-20E III Aperture 8, one is at the 2,8er at f 5.6. This can ~ + - ISO 2000 make. A pretty big difference.
Haptic made the 2,8er course the better impression, it feels better, is better sealed, has by far the most effective lens hood and a good, stable, functional, and quick release stand base. Also the auto focus has been slightly faster than in the 4-Zoom.
Why did I opt for the 4p? It is considerably lighter than the 850g 2,8er. It fits in my camera bag with attached hood and body, very compact. Despite having a plastic version, it is relatively high. The image stabilizer is the best I could ever use. At 200mm and 1/15 sec approximately 100% sharp pictures (at 2,8er Zoom was at 200mm 1/30 final). With concentrated breathing techniques and posture about 50% - 70% of the pictures at 1/8 seconds sharp. With lean on are 1/5 seconds at 200mm without a tripod possible which is sensational. Something like the image stabilization in the OMD cameras must feel :). Also films from the hand at 200mm was not a problem. The picture was extremely stabilized.
What I also like the 1m minimum focusing distance at all focal lengths. It is the ideal travel zoom with extremely high
Image Quality.
Since I photograph mostly static subjects or slow action, the initial aperture 4 is not dramatic and perfectly adequate. Come meet me even in architecture and depth of field. Only the circus I would have liked at 1/400 with aperture 2.8. However, I would have 2.8er Zoom :) not mitgehabt due to the size.
Would I take a lot fast action, or action in low light conditions, and even with a less resolution camera (eg D600, 610, D4, D3, etc.), I would take the 2,8er Zoom. If only because of the better converter performance, and of course, the light intensity.
