The music is often minimalist gehalten- appropriately to the events in the game. Mainly resorting to guitar sounds. Only discreetly come Streicher used. By contrast, there is heard lots of percussion and electronic music. There are four main themes in the game: The Main Theme "The Last of Us", the beautiful "All Gone", "The Path" and "Vanishing Grace". These appear again and again in different variations. For me personally, however, "All Gone" the main theme of the game- it appeared in all important key scenes of the Games on (particularly in terms of Joel and Ellie).
Now we must say that the soundtrack as a standalone rather a treat for fans of the game (and possibly Santaolalla fans what I suspect, however, only so far as I know only this from him). Because the score is really very minimalist and gloomy. Here it is really better to know the game. So fans beat to-interested rather hear elsewhere items, (or play best equal the game). Where there is also one or the other creeps track (and independent of the scene of the game).
Conclusion:
Moody Score which is lacking in some areas of variety (but it was also hard to avoid in my opinion). There are some real highlights like "All Gone (No Escape)" or "The Path (A New Beginning)". According Druckmann some dialogues were reduced or eliminated to the music to let go first in order to express the particular scene. I think that has good hingehauen.
For fans the recommendation! Who takes a liking to this soundtrack might also like the soundtrack albums for "The Walking Dead"!
