Except for the AW-100 all move in the price range +/- 310 and have a similar functionality. Decisive for the purchase of the WG-2 GPS were a few test photos and videos on this camera. # 'First Impression':
The camera makes a high-quality and very robust. The individual elements are well - very well made and leave nothing to be desired at first. The battery cover under this and the memory card is located is sealed from the inside with rubber and gives the impression that here no water. The same applies to the HDMI terminal, the opening of which is however in my opinion not a good solution, as you have quite tüffteln, until it opens. The display, the colors are natural and bright. The lens is well incorporated and the LED's around them, make a thoughtful impression.
# 'Optics':
Me personally the optics of the camera has very appealing, even though it is a bit too flashy and gives the impression that it was not cheap. The color combination is very well chosen, as the band of the carabiner. The shape of the camera is a bit strange, but just looks for a Outdoorcam!
# 'Feel':
The camera feels only partly good, in some places, the plastic does not feel particularly pleasant to the touch and gives a rather inferior impression. It is comfortable to hold and provides a result of the angular looks and Feelings a masculine touch.
# 'Test':
We tested the camera in an apartment, outdoor and in a lake. It has been tested all modes and settings extensively. Thus, one can already speak of a profound review!
# 'Photos:
Photographed all objects that were adapted and published. This right was on the really very very slow trip time. It takes a long time due to speak to the camera taking a picture and between two photos the wait is even longer. This is no better unfortunately in continuous shooting. CONCLUSION: Image quality to fickle and overall average.
# 'Videos':
Pentax advertises Full HD recordings, which promise a presentable quality. At first glance this seems to be given as long as you let the finger on the zoom, the quality is good. But woe if you use the zoom, then the whole picture becomes a pixel salad and recalls the first mobile video, but just bigger. Shots in water should be assessed well with, but again, stay away from the Zoom! The videos seen on the TV or PC from different well, my opinion after the other settings is only Full HD "good", rather not.
CONCLUSION: Video quality without good zoom (only Full HD), with Zoom useless!
# 'Overall impression':
I bought this camera to take on my trip good photos and decent video, unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the Pentax. The image quality is a gamble and impermanent. Triggering takes simply too long and is not for snapshots. In full HD video can be presentable produce Stay away from Zoom! I for one have returned the camera back, as they dominated not so good, the main function, as they can for their price would have to.
Therefore, I give the Pentax WG-2 GPS only 2 stars because it should be a "development", this is it my opinion is not and for that she has simply too expensive.
