Higher, faster, further? Not with Booker T, and the likes. Wonderfully relaxed sixties sounds swirling organ, bass and beautiful Mumpf Twängs from Steve Croppers guitar. One hears in every piece of the collection that virtuosity at the Stax house combo never degenerates into an end in itself, here it goes only about relaxing and cool R & B songs (which are actually not as instrumental) deliver. Sprawling guitar solos have the MG's as little necessary as intricate and convoluted arrangements, less is here rather more. For hours they can listen to music without annoying, especially at the high quality of the remasters. Amazing what can be rausholen partially recorded even in mono master tapes.
