Back then it was certainly a good software

Installation / compatibility with OS

In the demo version you could already see that the software has been well developed for Windows 98 times. The software installs itself in its own directory on the C drive the usual "Programs" folder does not know the software. But the demo software runs at least on current computers.

The purchased version for lack of dongle driver no longer. There are installation routines for the following operating systems on the CD or on the FTP server of the manufacturer: Win98, WinME, Win2000, WinXP, WinVista, Win7.
No for Windows 8 and not for Windows 8.1.

When installing 8 computers try the software on a Windows, I get on all tested computers, the error message that the operating system is unknown.

I have for days trying to somehow manually install the software. Ultimately, it fails because of the dongle drivers. The latest 32-bit drivers are from 2008 and unfortunately do not run on Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.

Under Windows7 the installer crashed during installation with me from always. With a few tricks and try around, but the software is run on a Win7 and XP on a computer.

The accompanying CD with designs

From the enclosed CD with designs, I am extremely disappointed. The motifs have been specially so recoded that they can only be loaded via a special CD-Include function. When she invites normal or open, you get the hint that it was defective file. Probably another copy. As beautiful as in the demo version does not work anymore, unfortunately.

The demo version could also scale all pattern motifs clean. This was possible because the motives were present also as vector file and the stitches were recalculated after resizing. This could not the others stick programs I have looked at. This had to shrink or enlarge all the stitches (without changing the number), but with major changes of more than 10% leads to significant loss of quality.

The motifs on the CD are no longer available as a vector file. Scaling is therefore not recommended.
The motive quality is also very sobering. Meanwhile, I have thousands and thousands of free designs found on the Internet, so that the CD is unnecessary.

Software Quality
============
The software is very old-fashioned, but can use relatively intuitive. While the program crashes often from times, invites you restart but to recently used data, so that I no data has been lost by the crashes.

The interaction with the embroidery machine is halfway W6N6000 OK but not really good. If you stick to the specifications of the embroidery machine, Motive size maximum 10cmx10cm and a maximum of 15,000 stitches, the file is still often rejected as too large.
Even my file with 14900 stitches on 9,8cmx9,6cm be rejected by the machine. So it is not mere rounding error. Files with 11,000 stitches on 8cmx8cm always work.
Whether the software is one or the wrong W6N6000 does not comply with the specification, I can not judge. Annoying the forced trial and error is in any case proceed.

I have prepared a JPG file with Photoshop and converted the subject with various embroidery software and finally embroidered. The embroidery quality of Stitch & Sew2.0 is here in the middle. It pays to be converted a file multiple times. If the software converts the same file multiple times, each time is visible out a different result. It seems to have been programmed a random factor. Smaller details are always omitted, unfortunately, even if the machine could actually embroider easily.

Other programs offer much to influence the embroidery file more settings (stitch sizes, attention to detail ...).

Annoying is that the program sometimes larger holes can be due to software error within the embroidery motif. Tip: In this case, change the angle stick to 1-2 degrees. Often you're lucky, sometimes walking the holes but only to another location.

Previously, the software was determined once top. From today's perspective it seems dusted heavily. The price I find a software that is no longer running on my more modern computers, completely covered.

It is good that DST files can create virtually any embroidery software and you do not depend on Stitch & Sew2.0.
