Beautiful record "live" recorded at the Polish Festival Jazztopad in November 2013 and which marked the return of the saxophonist in the Blue Note label after decades in ECM. A new quartet with pianist Gerald Clayton (replaces Jason Moran), bassist Joe Sanders (instead of Reuben Rogers) and drummer Gerald Cleaver (taking the place of Eric Harland), set up by Greek musicians, Sokratis Sinopoulos player lyra (a kind of violin held vertically) and Miklos Lu-caks dulcimer that provide a discreet note "oriental". Six long compositions (especially composed for the Festival) clearly inspired Coltrane, sometimes elegant, graceful, turbulent and dynamic, sometimes meditative, peaceful and emotional. Note the powerful play and inspired pianist Gerald Clayton, powered by the battery of the great Gerald Cleaver (which "pulse" of some songs in the style of the great Elvin Jones). Registration unfortunately is rather poor (conditions "live"?), It's a shame - the ECM sound recording technique was at least a guarantee of its "clean". An interesting record which shows that 75 Charles Lloyd, on top of his artistic capabilities, remains a (the?) Master who ensures the full Coltrane legacy (via Sonny Rollins!).
