As a complement to my heavy digital SLR camera I was looking for a more universal, affordable, high-performance secondary camera that can take it everywhere. As I have previously had good experience with Canon, it is a device of this brand should also be back. Had I better with the features found in the price range, I would have been, however, not averse to a Panasonic or Nikon to buy. Anyone who has ever made familiar with the menu, which is really fast, can be found along well with every model of Canon. There are no extreme or confusing nested menus.
When I had the Canon 590 IS A for the first time in my hand, I thought that the processing of devices depending on the model always simple and cost is made reducing. The picture quality is in automatic mode, as well as with their own manual settings quite well, with the motif programs allow ever Patzer. How can a camera in automatic mode, on a bright, sunny winter landscape with an aperture 4 and a time of 1/1000 second record? Incomprehensible. But well, this machine I have at least influence. But the expensive SLRs should also have their right to exist and not unnecessarily have some competition. I think that's really disappointing, but looking at the models of the other major manufacturers look at, you will lose any differently. The main thing the price is kept low and can lure customers with megapixels! The megapixels are raised from year to year, but the image sensor remains the same. You can circumvent the whole, if you own the ISO setting to 100 and then leaves in an emergency will activate the image stabilizer. For this, the camera is just good affordable. Nowadays, you can actually buy almost any Compact. All work with the same size image sensors, so that a higher price camera determines only the facilities (mini housing, display quality, zoom range, etc.).
Also reminds me to positive that the face recognition works and exposed faces perfectly. Too bad that the automatic red-eye correction in some situations (45 degree angle) does not work reliably. The manufacturer should still make improvements! That would be innovative!
The new 'normal' video mode with 640x480 pixels at 20 fps is more of a throwback to its predecessor (640 x 480 pixels at 25/30 fps). The videos are therefore presented with 20 pictures per second, which is not the normal TV standard, even DVD format justice. Canon wanted to probably only cause the file size is a little smaller. 'What a step backwards! 'Since I rarely need to Video mode, I now have overlooked it. It annoys me but! Every other manufacturer offers better. The videos are still burned with Nero 7 on DVD, to view them on your TV. The video quality is very good for digital cameras. The sound is recorded with mono and sufficient for ordinary shots from. Shooting from a party with stereo music in the background, sound but somewhat dull. But more does not seem to be possible in the price range.
Summary: In this price range, the camera has a great deal for their money and convinces with good image quality. Still less should not spend it, unless the camera is suitable for children or really little Fotografierer. Then I would reach for the Canon A560. The Canon A 570 IS would be a good alternative. Megapixels are not everything.
