Batteries saving Marathon Mouse

Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse (Personal Computers)

Customer Review

Some notes:

* "Pairing" (ie connection) with the "Unifying Receiver" is, according to the fine print may be limited to 45 times. Thus the possibility M510 eliminates constantly switch between multiple computers / Recievern. The USB dongle has to move with.

* M510 is delivered already paired with his Reciever. Only for the "umpaaren" it would need a Windows or MacOS software. Out of the box is including Linux problem.

* Most wooden surfaces that I could try on the fly seem sufficient support for scanning, so I was able to complete one round of a small game that is on a vertical wall unit indeed difficult. Only bright spruce in the dark branches, and a milky plastic bowl and glass fall through as an underlay.

* The range is now adequate with fresh batteries, somewhere 4-6 meters in a straight line. I know of other Logitech mice already that this is insufficient for a conference where more than one person to sit around the table and look at a projector while the computer to the receiver in the corner. This is clearly a compromise in favor of battery life. Let's see how it looks at the end of the promised 24-months.

* Speaking of saving electricity: The auto-off must be beyond 10 minutes. Anyway, she responds without click or keystroke away.

* With 2 batteries M510 heavier than all other mice that I've ever had in my hand. Because you have to get used to. At first it seems so, as if she were stronger "stick" on documents. A sheet of paper rather slips over the table as if to let go of M510. But the wars of other mice also suggest not so much better.

* Curiosity: The batteries have the same orientation. For M510 runs only with a battery. In addition, the laser is completely invisible; Drum is needed on top of the LED, which signals the operational readiness at power.

* M510 is relatively long (at least 12 cm), though my hand is too large. The tactile sensitive tip of the index finger pressed halfway to the front edge (getting used to but not unpleasant). On the other hand the keys are better protected and do not remain hanging guaranteed. A plus for the travel companion of the laptop, maybe a minus for use on stationary PC.

* My highlight is the multi-functional scroll wheel. Initially somewhat difficult to control how resources Clicks triggers, without scrolling it. I have to work also as a wanted and it necessarily for the home.

* The additional thumb buttons are very handy (right handed only). Under Linux you can individually program it with imwheel.

* The manual does not exist in German ... but the pictures are self-explanatory.

* The packaging in hard plastic is really an armored challenge à la: "cutting 'me and I cut' back you!" Ironically prints Logitech the scornful words "easy open" with a meaningless arrow on it. Afterwards, it still looks after a major massacre. Customer returns and second-hand equipment are likely to lose through the damaged packaging massively in value, even if the product was not handled so carefully.
