Love over Gold is definitely one of the timeless works of recent music history. LoG sounds incredibly well, while other works of this time listen as if they were recorded in a metal bucket. It is a non-bent, heard not commercially ambitious album, special recorded from the heart of the musicians.
My favorites are the first two pieces of "Telegraph Road" and "Private Investigations", both very melancholic pieces with catchy melody and instrumentation lines, and of course not forgetting Mr. world-class Knopfler on guitar. He plays his instrument not only God's equal but with a sound technical heat that goes inevitably to the heart. TR and PI are 7-star tracks, and catch the slightly weaker rating for my opinion, something playful, not as timeless sounding "Industrial Disease" comfortably on.
The title track "Love Over Gold" follows on seamlessly from Track 1 and 2, is a masterpiece of art music to write and intepretieren. Crescendo, decrescendo, and musical instruments that seem to hear aufeinandern, and peel off each other's leadership and never hinder hears you. So music is to be truthful.
The last song "It never rains" is again rather inconsequential, but in a positive sense; Easy Listening at high levels, who can even the nowadays!
"Love Over Gold" is a very strong piece of music, sounds timeless, and is easy to listen beautifully on a high musical level! A few slices of assets there, both on the side to be able to run than can be consciously perceived as oberklassige music and enjoyed.
