Story:
In many of the modern Sonic titles Sega has tried to tell a great story. Why no one knows as real (Giefel ridicule: Sonic '06). Fortunately, Sega goes this time according to the principle "less is more". The story is simple and is told through sporadic video sequences. In these scenes, it becomes clear why Sega had insisted she would be raising with Sonic Colors rather younger players. Personally, I would prefer even less story, in my opinion Sonic need not even have a voice. A certain plumber is thus always gone well.
Optics & Sound:
Here one can not blame Sega as always. The CGI cutscenes are very high quality and the in-game graphics makes technically forth some. The architecture of the level is very rich in detail and do not forget: colorful and gaudy. Often very nice to watch, but sometimes as if someone considers them a neon tube in the face. There is no lack of variety. There are seven very different worlds that are not only visually but also musically different. The music gets a big plus point from me. Quick to fit and with catchy guarantee, just as I look at the music imagine in a Sonic title.
Gameplay & Design:
The most important point! Here are a lot of light, but unfortunately again the shadow. The basic gameplay may be explained simplified so: Man runs and runs, sometimes jumps in between to avoid rear Nissen and opponents. This is rounded off by rail grinds, Sidestep- and drift passages that you already know from the previous day's of Sonic Unleashed. The basic principle of the Sonic games continues to make fun.
The great "innovation" are the wisps that can be compared very well with the power-ups of colleague Mario. But unlike for example in Mario Galaxy, where level sections have been specifically designed for power-ups, it affects Sonic Colors unfortunately often the case as if the Wisps were scattered randomly and serve no deeper purpose. They allow you pursue alternative ways but mostly it just seems unnecessary and would have to be designed without wisps. Although there are sporadic Level that have been specially designed for the capabilities of many Wisps, unfortunately, the usually short and not really well implemented. Ever varies the level design between excellent and underground. It is the level where it is necessary to jump over to run are less successful.
Sonics is worst enemy and will remain - no, not Robotnik, er, I mean Eggman - the bottomless abyss that sends a right to his death. While there are checkpoints, but it is to have to play an entire section again frustrating for a small misdeed anyway. This is especially clear when one comes in the platforming sections, because there Sonic controls very slowly and every mistake is punished by the game excessively. Although I like challenges, but that's partly a relapse into 8 bit times.
Still, if the gameplay works, then it works and it does in most levels.
Conclusion:
Even though I have now almost only bitched: Total yet outweigh the positives, because the basic Sonic gameplay is fun. It is a pity to see that you have not used the full potential of the ideas (Wisps, level design) and old mistakes (precipices, control) continue to exist.
For every Sonic fan of this game is certainly a must-have, genre fans can also access only people who previously did not like Sonic, will not be converted by this game.
