I have the CMT MX700NI now not disappointed in our dining / living area in operation and was on the whole for a week as a replacement of an old FM radio. Based on my research, I knew well the problem that one Internet radio station currently can not save (*** Edit 26/05/2011: saving now works as desired ***). That cost the device in my review also an entire star. In addition there are a number of other smaller, more or less disturbing quirks, but about which I personally look away, because I use them hardly or never. Here is a summary of all the negative points that struck me so far:
- After an interruption of the stream when playing Internet radio you have to press the play button, so that playback resumes (coming only sporadically before - probably only at high traffic to the station currently selected);
- Navigation in the sender or title lists due to the modest failed dot-matrix display (3 lines of 16 characters) sometimes tedious;
- Keyword search only in the "Music Services" (Radio) and in the "Home Network" (DLNA streaming) possible, and only within one level or folder (no search to USB media);
- Short speaker cables (each approximately 150 cm): not enough that you have to lend a little hand;
- No mute button (either on the device itself, nor on the remote control);
- WPS setup has me neither with the "PIN Code Method" nor with the "push button method" works (Router: Netgear WNDR3700);
- Setting the clock after each disconnect from the power supply required (if you want to use the timer function, or it just puts so only value);
- USB Player does not support playlists (eg .m3u.);
- No headphone output;
- Only USB media with max. 999 tracks support;
- Play with the USB player sometimes works not (Workaround: Remove and re-plugging the USB medium);
But the numerous positive features I do not want to leave unmentioned. After all, they were the reason that I gave the plant at least 4 stars):
+ In view of the functional scope unbeatable price / performance ratio;
+ One for the size of the speakers neater, stronger but still crystal-clear sound;
+ Volume control is very good even in the lower range;
+ Design (matter of taste);
+ The opportunity to decide for themselves whether the (W) LAN is active in standby or not (power saving function);
+ Absolutely stable wireless connection;
+ WLAN settings are retained from the mains and after disconnecting the system;
+ Optional, the system can also be wired connected to the LAN;
+ The Internet Radio service vTuner offers a wealth of global Radiostatonen (details sh vTuner website.);
+ Sleep Timer;
+ On Timer (alarm);
+ CD drive almost inaudible;
+ Printed manual (nowadays no longer be taken for granted);
+ Good documentation for setting up the Windows Media Player 11/12 as a DLNA Server on Windows XP / Vista / 7;
+ Functions (many operating modes, of which I have the iPod / iPhone docking station, connect external devices and the Party Streaming not yet getetstet);
+ Sony Support: save the Internet radio station was made available later, contrary to expectations (that worked until recently).
Edit (17/02/2011): the problems with the USB player cost the facility another star;
Edit (18/04/2011): lt a mail from Sony CIC intended to save Internet radio stations via vTune from July 2011 be possible;.
Edit (26/05/2011): I was informed yesterday from Sony CIC via email about the fact that the storing of stations in vTune should work now - and: it finally! (+1 Star);
Edit (08/18/2013): so far there was no single (software) crashes;
