Besides the well known from radio and television (world) hits like Weve Got Tonight, Against The Wind, Shakedown (known from Beverly Hills Cop II and Segers only number one in the US) or Old Time Rock And Roll can be found on this compilation also songs that have never been in the form presented here on an album of Bob Seger. There is for example like the original version of his first hits Ramblin Gamblin Man that is still recorded in mono or Segers interpretation of the Christmas song Little Drummer Boy, which also although many times has so far played live not yet officially released on an album. Then there are the two new numbers Downtown Train and Hey Hey Hey Hey (Going Back To Birmingham), the lead currently the Classic Rock charts in the US. Even for long-time fans so is quite something.
Musically BOB SEGER Nists a between rock, blues-rock and country, where the components are even less present depending on your mood even more. The lowest common denominator here is of course the times rough, sometimes gentle but always recognizable voice of Bob Seger. Besides rocking numbers as Her Strut or Hollywood Nights are on this biplane, the ballad-like tones in the spotlight. BOB SEGER feels in his own words with ballads much more comfortable than in rock songs. It reads now worse than it is. SEGER making course in the rock numbers looks good and there are high on the music of Mr. SEGER anyway nothing to complain about. For newcomers to this double CD worth especially since the EMI with this compilation gives a good insight into the work of Bob Seger. Metalheads will surely not access here. Rock fans who have not yet set with Bob Seger apart are, however, well served.
