But what makes Morrowind so special and better than, say, Oblivion or Skyrim?
Positive and maybe even better:
+ Story, atmosphere and game depth: what has not quite managed to Oblivion and Skyrim Unfortunately (in my opinion) completely screwed it made Morrowind best. Anyone looking at TES (The Elder Scrolls) by a "real" RPG, Morrowind must play. Morrowind has an incredible depth and attention to detail when it comes to story and atmosphere. Each cave and and each farm has its own history available to Discover. because especially Skyrim can learn a lot from. Moreover Vvardenfell is mystical and beautiful at the same time. There is much to Discover and you find something new again and again.
+ Quests: In my opinion, Skyrim one did much worse than the predecessor - The Quest diversity and variety. Oblivion Morrowind as well have pulled their Trümphe here. not only blunt "go there again - find the object or kill the person - come back) as 90% of the quests in Skyrim Oblivion and Morrowind have here No one offered what especially Morrowind every quest for what has made many special... Quest could also make only if you have certain skills etc leveled, because it was impossible otherwise.
+ Variety: Whether equipment, weapons, magic. Morrowind had more of everything than his successors. Example gabs twice as many weapons skills as for example in Skyrim. Throwing weapons also are among the special features in Morrowind. or there was left and right shoulder parts etc. Magic gabs a huge number. Man could view not only create your own magic, but there was magic that you unfortunately missed in today's TES parts. Levitation Magic for example, this was the player float for a certain time. which was pretty handy in battles because they were out of reach.
But now to the negative things, but they are usually in debt than technical reasons the time.
- Graphics: clear graphics are not everything, but you can tell but the age of Morrowind on. Graphic mods let it and likewise look pretty good. (Thanks to the great community!)
- Game mechanics / fighting technique: major shortcoming, which will not please everyone. Whether you meet an enemy with the weapon depends on the skill level of your weapon skill. ie: is your sword skill weak you may meet only every 10th stroke, although one is right in front of the. not only looks stupid but can Voe especially frustrating in the beginning very. the skill level is all in Morrowind and in the game the highest priority in order to survive in the game.
- (Almost) no setting: yes who wants to read not much, Morrowind will have me no joy. most dialogues are in gigantic text form. only advantage: dadruch everything is in writing, you learn a lot more about the history and the quests.
- No fast travel, Quest markers etc .: the small but fine Hilf means that we know from Skyrim and Oblivion, Morrowind has NOT! the quests are all in a (confusing) book. This is your only means Hilf. in Morrowind is one MUST THINK! and you have to talk to people to find out more about the Quest.
- Less action than Skyrim or Oblivion: This has to follow, especially the lack of scoring and the other tools. you have to watch more, because you also quickly dies. Magicka generated by even drinking and sleeping (except those Atronach Zodiac). generally can be divided this way:
Morrowind: 75% RPG, 25% Action
Oblivion: RPG 50%, 50% ection
Skyrim: 25% RBG, 75% Action
Conclusion: Morrowind is by no means outdated. Mods have it still look good. If you get along with the technical shortcomings of that time and do not read a lot of accounts, the game should get. for me the best part of the series and the best part of the "new" TES Parts (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim). Skyrim shines through graphics and action, but by Morrowind game depth, storyline and quests. and for the few bucks you get one of the best RPGs of all time with the two addons. strong buy recommendation !. each Rollenspielfan should fewest times Morrowind viewed and played. Morrowind Game is history;)
