My first reaction was a great joy to learn that a new austenerie be published in French, a rare event to be welcomed with gratitude, immediately followed by a small disappointment when reading the comments on the US book says. I always ask myself the question of how publishers choose what they will translate because I would gladly do them some suggestions!
Then came the time to delve into the novel and discover the history of the five girls Darcy discovering the city and life, and again we can say that different feelings have succeeded in three distinct phases:
First, it took me a while to adaptation. I was warned that it was not the story of the century and I reasoned me to keep an open mind! I finally found clever enough to remove the main characters of the story to focus on new characters whose fate still holds us heart. This avoids some of the comparison and finally the killing of Lizzy and Darcy! Colonel Fitzwilliam, he will take to rank it says! There is also not a few inconsistencies which I will return, since detailed found in almost every book on the Notes and the level is not more sustained but at this point, I'm still ready for indulgence!
The second phase begins when I arrive more or less ignore the fact that these girls then Darcy. It is not so difficult because, apart from the names that come up regularly, nothing here in the characters, the characters, the descriptions or the pen could make me think of some way to Jane Austen! And against all odds, from there, I spend a good time! I like frivolous stories, girls a little foolish, then, balls and London. I also like the easy reading, the summer, the pool and if it was the presence of binoculars that appear are downright loathsome, I could say that it works pretty nicely!
And then suddenly, patatra, everything collapses! A girl runs away with her suitor, her sister does not understand what she did wrong, Mr Gardiner is forced to go looking for him with the help of a young man in love with one of her sisters ! Well, well, well ... That reminds me of something! So not only we are in outright copy of the masterpiece austenien, which greatly serves the trifle compared Mrs. Aston, but also from that fateful moment, stupid situations will be linked together one after the other and "bad" girls will be more rewarded than punished! In short, we swim in the great anything! And, it's the anger that prevails before such stupidity!
It is on the latter feeling I closed the book and it resent in Note! I repeat that there is no negative in this book, but I recommend it mainly to those who would not be a fan of the original and who find conventional guided too! They will have enough here to be put in the tooth: homosexuality, innocent girls sleeping with their claiming for balls, pregnancy before marriage and so on ...
