Better subclass - not more!

The Huawei U8650 Sonic was (and is) my first smartphone. I was looking for a low-priced entry-level model with an optimal price-performance ratio. Rather by accident I came across the Sonic and because of the almost always very positive reviews here on Amazon, I decided to give this at least in the mobile division still fairly unknown brand Huawei a chance. I've been using it now for almost a year and think that it is time to share my personal experiences.

Optics / haptics:
Here is probably the biggest plus of this smartphone. One sees him namely at the low price at all. On The Contrary! Although it is completely built out of plastic parts, it looks really high, is nice to look at and is thanks to the on the roughened back well and firmly in his hand. Several times I was asked if this is an iPhone, more need for that I do not think more to say! And still creaks and jerky nothing on the phone, it looks also still almost as good as new: really positive!

Display:
On a positive note, that the display with 3.5 inches for this price segment is really big. However, the resolution of 480x320 pixels just higher claims lags behind but formidable. Even at normal spacing of the eyes to the screen you recognize the individual pixels sometimes very significantly. That's not very nice, but for me not terribly bad. Of course I would also prefer a super AMOLED or Retina display in HD resolution, but you can recognize definitely enough to navigate properly! For the price, the display is therefore to identify definitely as neat!

Speed:
A single-core processor with only 600 MHz clock and a memory of 256 MB RAM really do not bode well. What is there, however, brought out at speed, but is pretty neat. Of course there are short or sometimes even slightly longer waiting times at the start of Apps and occasionally jerky synonymous something (eg when entering text), but that really has its limits! And the Internet is running quite smoothly. Games like Angry Birds you will with the Sonic of course can not play smoothly, but at least I have to use anyway not a particularly great need my smartphone for such games. Over time, add the (usually short) wait times but anyway, so with frequent use of a faster smartphone is appropriate in any case!

Free space:
Here I come to the first big minus point of the Sonics. From the internal memory of just 512 MB remaining after deducting the operating system and various pre-installed (and not erasable) Apps little more than 150 MB for free use. And with just about every update of the preinstalled apps (eg Facebook), the available memory will be even further limited. Just a few days after purchase and a very limited number of downloaded apps I got a message that the memory is full. Although there is a slot for an optional microSD card (up to 32GB), but this helps not necessarily always on. Firstly you need to install an app always enough space on the internal memory (even if the app finally installed on the SD card) and secondly widgets must be installed on the internal memory card in order to use them can. In addition, several useful apps can not save only on the SD card. This extremely small internal memory is therefore really very frustrating!

Battery:
It seems that the battery had already after a few months his best time behind itself. While I got along loose a day with a single charge beginning at quite brisk use, the power went relatively suddenly in the basement. From then on it had to be an average of two to three battery charges a day be (With GPS and Bluetooth probably noticed), I can sit and watch this formally, as the percentage of the battery icon decreases, especially when I go on the Internet to. That is actually not acceptable, but it may be of course that I just had bad luck with my device.

Camera:
Here one has clearly saved! The images that you shoot with the Sonic, one can hardly be described as below average. An LED flash and there is not an autofocus only right not. I use the phone's camera for snapshots only, where the quality plays no greater role for me.

Telephony:
You can call Jaja, with a smartphone, of course, still) and one would think that this also would have to fold. Forget it! While I understand the relevant interlocutors quite good, but time and again I have to listen from this that one by me again sees only every third word - go the other at the transfer probably just lost. Again, I can not judge whether this is a single case with my device, but it's very sad when you have a cell phone and is afraid to call it, because you will probably not understood at the other end anyway again.

CONCLUSION:
I think those who are interested in the Sonic, as well as I did looking for a cheap smartphone, which is still to good use, so it has a great value Leisungs ratio. Due to the many very good reviews here, where this very price-performance ratio is praised in high notes, I have decided on this smartphone - and regret this decision now, unfortunately, quite! While the look and feel for this price range are top and also the display and the speed can be seen, the Sonic falls through in all other points (memory, battery, camera and telephony) for me. While I can get over the bad camera and as I said to the battery might simply had very bad luck, are the very low internal memory and the serious problems when making calls so significant minuses that they would keep me from just assume the Sonic again to . Buy I regret really, that I was not ready at that time to spend 50 euros more and for buying a decent mid-range smartphone that would satisfy my needs fully.
