My idea was to sift the RAW files of the camera in the first step with DxO Optics Pro and preprocess and save the RAW conversion thereby apply only the Lens Corrections that are especially promoted by DxO Optics and should be one of the strengths of the software. I then wanted to export the photos as DNG for further processing in Lightroom, since I also use for archiving the "digital negatives" not the original format of the camera (CR2), but the less prietary DNG format.
Unfortunately, this was a wrong decision in my case. Why?
The exported from DxO Optics Pro DNG files are three times bigger compared to the usual DNG format, almost as large as uncompressed TIF images! This makes them unsuitable for my archiving because they consume too much space. In a FAQ on the manufacturer's website DxO Optics is also added and said that it was technically feasible otherwise ...
Trying to DxO Optics Pro to upload photos from my older DNG archive 8 and edit failed. The program can not read the DNG format! This vulnerability of a RAW conversion program is hard to believe.
A RAW developer who does not import DNG DNG and can not export in a usable manner is a disgrace for this price. About the other qualities of this software has been written here already enough, that's why I single out only this point.
Conclusion: Those who work with DNG files, should stay away from DxO Optics Pro 8 and take a look at Lightroom 5.
