Innovative publishing strategy or not - in the long run still chooses the music, whether it has been a big hit or not. And just the music on "Beyoncé" got me but last year many more surprises as the fact that the record was released overnight. So much musical experimentation I was more of Solange Knowles usual, by the way, in 2013 published a very wonderful EP called "True". Now Beyoncé has proven that her artistic claim was more important than any of these ramblings of profit-oriented label bosses. Actually sound only "Pretty Hurts" and "XO" as former Beyoncé tracks. Especially the latter is the poppigste track of the disc. And "Pretty Hurts" by Sia Furler is also quickly into his ear. Both pieces I find very successful, as they form the partially structurally very quirky compositions a good counterweight. That there are real pearls just in unconventional pieces, makes the album a real listening experience, because you have to take your time until the pieces ignite. Great it is, as the driving and almost always spoken "Ghost" on slides in the dark "Haunted". "Drunk in Love" is then a Hip Hop-R & B hybrid with powerful bass, at the show Beyoncé and Jay-Z all intimate and passionate at the same time. Something airy easier it is with the very danceable number "Blow". "Partition" and "Flawless" are again entirely to the Hip Hop prescribed while Beyoncé on the neo-soul track "Rocket" sounds like a female D'Angelo. The highlights for me but this wonderfully heavy "Jealous", the driving "Mine" with Drake and the gentle "Super Power" with Frank Ocean. Only the slightly kitschy "Blue", which she dedicated to her daughter, as well as the more sedate "Angel" not quite find my taste. The fact that at the factory to a "Visual Album" is, in which each song received its own video clip, is a nice little bonus for me but beside the point. I had heard the album already 20 times before I was looking at the clips. Cinematically at a high level, I was a bit disappointed that it has been very much focused on Beyoncé body, especially the good actually also has enough acting talent. But that's a matter of taste. Conclusion: Since Janet Jackson's "Janet" and "Velvet Rope" I was no longer surprised at the R & B section of a renowned artist with experimentation. I'm curious to see how it goes with Beyonce and look forward to the next album!
