Indeed, I was pretty disappointed with his album.
For example "Fresh News": past the surprise of the main instrument whose sound is modulated at the whim of the user, there is nothing too exciting. I find that all her pieces are not going quite right down to it, it remains on the surface, it's not enough trash (perhaps I ask too much, even Jean-Michel Jarre). It is "loose" enough about these modulations precisely because this is where the interest of the piece.
"Téo & Téa" is the same. The voice used is too soft, I would have seen a more serious and tired voice.
We come to "Beautiful Agony" I find it very surprising that no one has noticed the enormous faults introduced on the chorus: I'm sorry but it is next each time (and then live copy and paste) . For his part, is very disappointing. Looks like it is done at the back as I-you-grow. So, I do not listen to the song to the groans of the girl.
The rest of the album is very average, with a few exceptions (but that is subjective).
Some songs do not escape the "analogy", which shows a penchant for facillité going along with a personal musical imprint that fades more and more. "Partners in Crime" is much like what Barry Adamson, and paradoxically, this is the best part of the album, at least for me (very Bonnie & Clyde).
"Chatterbox" is pretty funny when you think of "Moon Machine" or the sounds of Zoolook.
"Gossip" is just another version of "Aerology".
His album concept, we understand the various joints on the theme (mordernisé) of the encounter between a man and a woman, but why make pieces of 3 minutes 30, and do we really need that from him , today?
Especially he can still do good things, "Geometry of love" is proof.
He made this great studio album in one game, but you can hear it (there, I'm nasty).
There was yet one thing you can not take away, the sound processing (I do not mean that samples, most of which are very good, and well chosen) and the dynamics of his pieces; for "Fresh News" and "Téo & Téa" for example, all the serious spectrum to 200 Hz is very clear and very well supported. The sound in 5.1, is not to say, but it rocks serious; next, cd stereo, it's really small, and not only to this style of music.
