What is important is that with * * Pentagrammaton an album is present in the well 42 minutes dark, metallic fury offers. The production has been very clear and the songs are raw, rough and fast. Schlagwerker Garghuf puts his whole aggression in his drum parts. The riffs are used minimalistic and simple, but well refined with exciting tempo changes. Gang boss Nornagest makes one more time a magnificent job behind the microphone. He grunts, and screams haunted. Personally, I would describe the style as Enthroneds Black Metal the old school. But the distinction is probably only useful for newcomers. All others should already have a notion of the black Stahlgewitter Nornagest and extras.
Musically, the troupe starts with a nice old-fashioned intro and the brilliant song * The vitalized shell *. The number is selected as a perfect opener and provides much dark presence, energy and atmosphere, but offers a nearly intimidating therefore coming vocals. Atmosphere is also the keyword for the song * Rion Riorrim *, which is held damn bleak and even the comparison with the title track * Pentagrammton * may be that over six minutes spans an oppressive, eerie black metal sheet and the cold breath Death sprayed. Further outstanding songs I'd * Nehas't * and * The Essential Chaos * denote. Pull the bow to another highlight of the album. The track * Unconscious Minds * rolls to more than 8 minutes (without the previous intro) a hymn-like symphony of before the album containing the extremely aggressive 2minüter * * Behemiron again animates fades from hatred.
The album definitely brings no new innovation to the market: Blast Beats, harsh, almost intimidating vocals, unbridled aggression. But this is ultimately exactly what you'd expect from Enthroned and the wheel must ultimately not be constantly reinvented, when the well-tried recipe still has enough facets.
CONCLUSION: class Album of the old school ...
