So my reason for buying was: Solid value for money, good specifications, touchscreen, especially important for me: additional QWERTY keyboard and then ultimately the update that the native run Android apps support. Since Android is konzepiert as an open system, it is there, for example possible various apps stores operate. So Amazon has released the Android Appstore also a few years ago, who was installed on the BlackBerry easily with the update to 10.2.1. So I have now even these run alongside the BlackBerry World App Store on Amazon, where I'll be (without the previously known how to transform, etc., etc..) To benefit from the wider range of Android apps.
(Not downloaded from the official website, as this example in the Amazon Appstore was available.) The Amazon Appstore, DB Navigator, Öffi, a N64 emulator, end Mondo (Sports tracking) and more: So following Android apps run smoothly. A few exceptions to the rule: so ran Angry Birds Go! not after the installation from the Amazon Appstore.
To the device itself:
I have great pleasure found in the operating system, although me this Windows 8 similar gestures had only put off. But you get used to it very quickly. The BlackBerry Hub is a message center, a super hub for all messages (at my Twitter, WhatsApp, SMS and email) and find this idea very well, and would completely miss this functionality in normal Android devices or iOS.
Overall, the whole system runs very smoothly and stable, in my opinion. The system in my opinion is well thought out, and easy to use.
The device looks very chic (I have the red model, because it reminded me of my former Sony Ericsson K610i), and is very well made, despite the plastic. The keys can be reached with one hand and a thumb very well, which surprised me personally. The typing feel can I find better than my Xperia Mini Pro. I am still in the adjustment period, but I one week I'll also be able to tap blind at the latest. The display is well finished and sharp because of the high resolution (720x720).
Personally, I have only to discover a few drawbacks for me: The alarm provides the Snooz- and stop buttons the same size and is directly opposite, so you then fast the alarm clock completely off instead of letting it ring again. But here it should be mentioned positively: You can adjust for the Snooz-time, what I have not seen it before in other devices.
Secondly, my sync my Google contacts missing. Gmail can indeed integrate super after the update, but the Contact synchronization failed to materialize unfortunately.
Neutral: Since I only use it a day, I can not say much about the battery life. After 24 often use 50% of the battery's gone with LTE network and Wi-Fi connection (alternate).
That sounds to me for a solid average, which may have potential for upward and downward with devices from Apple, Samsung, Sony, HTC and co.
Conclusion: prolific writer, physical keyboard lovers and Android Enthusianten are very well served with this unit and the new update! I am very satisfied with the device!
Even a small supplement for beginners:
Thanks to the new update to version 10.2.1 and the Amazon AppStore, it is to get started on it very easy even for novice users Android apps: 1. Click in the settings that foreign Apps may install. 2. In your browser, open the page of the Amazon app store, and download and store the app. 3. Open and install the downloaded app. 4. The app is now in the other apps, and can be started, and after entering the access can be from there very easily install apps. Super thing!
Update (July 18):
I'm half a year still very satisfied with the device itself. Fortunately, it worked out at the second attempt with the Google Mail Contacts.
The only negative I have, however, that a restart of the device lasted really for ages. But because a reboot is almost never required (one probably total now 3 times, once due to connection problems, and then update again in order). Unlike pure Android devices (at least the equipment that I had), I really had rarely or never restart it.
In addition: The store is really small! 8GB you get up quickly, especially if some apps vollblähen (browser or 9GAG ... there the caches were each larger than half a gigabyte). But Clear caches or Apps help because of already. Who takes up the Q5, automatically chooses the lower space. The risk has to be a conscious. The SD card helps unfortunately only with music, pictures, videos and similar files. But when I think of my Xperia Mini Pro with about 500MB of internal memory which is now luxury now!
Because, of course, Google's own Android apps do not run (which also does not run on other devices, the Android Play Store without offer), I lack at present most Google Maps. But that's okay.
The battery life has remained stable, and I'll come over the day well so clear. I have no cable breaks in the Micro-USB cable (how many times I had already had !!). Since my network operators have no twin SIM or equivalent offering, I'm also often dependent on the hotspot feature, which works very well, and also offers a lot of information on the consumption and more.
I remain of the opinion that the equipment at the price, this super user interface using gestures and the hub, and the Android support has continued to share deserves 4,5-5 stars!
