American Beauty (Audio CD)

Customer Review

For over 20 years, they are now doing. The fabled Nashville Bluegrass Band by Alan O'Bryant and Pat Enright. For over 20 years they make the world happy with excellent music that makes always a pleasure. And without a single misfire. They have a high recognition value without becoming boring. And with each disc they demonstrate an exceptional taste in the choice of songs. Although it mostly concerns foreign compositions, so they interpret the songs through the series with a lot of love and warmth.
So also in "American Beauty" from 1998, which is immediately initiated with a great interpretation of the Gillian Welch songs "Red Clay Halo". This is followed by songs by Flatt & Scruggs ("The Johnson Boys"), Bob Dylan ("Livin 'the Blues"), Ralph Stanley ("Holiday Pickin'"), Carl Jones ("Homeless Waltz" and "Just Like A Fiddle" ) and others.
The dominant and most distinctive is usually the banjo by Alan O'Bryant. Banjo and heat seems first to be a contradiction in itself. But at O'Bryant it is true definitely. His banjo playing is warm and hearty.
Another point of the Nashville Bluegrass Band by other artists in this profession is particularly stands out the polyphonic singing. Pat Enright and Alan O'Bryant alternate steadily with the lead vocals. The other band members (on this album are the Roland White on mandolin, Stuart Duncan on fiddle and Gene Libbea on bass) accepts genial and harmonious Harmony singing. The whole performance that always creates goosebumps with me.
The CD has been carefully produced by the band and Mark Howard, who has made among other things for his work with John Hartford a name. The sound is impeccable and leaves nothing to be desired.

Each Bluegrass Fan can I "American Beauty" highly recommended. And who is not yet a member of the Club, can be finally converted by this disc ...
