Book unpleasant for the female

I bought this book in order to learn more about the differences between men and women. How disappointing.
The author lists and repeats again the attitudes that women should change towards men if they hope to build a satisfactory relationship of love (otherwise the man would go into the arms of another woman!). On the question why all the work lie in the hands of women, only one answer: "Because it's like that."
The author uses an imperative tone absent from any sympathy for the woman. An example: "... I repeat, the shrew woman should stop trying to change her husband ...".
In conclusion, I doubt if a man, even a man of academic training in the subject, is able to understand and describe how a woman, and how it works in a relationship.
By cons, this author knew very well describe what annoys some women (the reader to make an effort not generalize!).
Why this book he has been decreed bestseller?
