Equipment
====
The unit is smaller than expected, is thus somewhat fiddly in hand, but it fits into tight pockets. The membrane keys are of course super protected from dust, dirt and moisture, but need a certain force to trigger something and feeling at the meeting. If I had to perform many measurements that, I would like to see firmer rubber or plastic buttons with good tactile feedback. With thicker gloves the unit is hard to use.
Service
========
The operation is extremely simple and intuitive, the manual is not really necessary. The color screen displays all the important information, there are no nested menus. The device must unfortunately "high" and "shutdown", but this is done within 1-2 seconds when switching on and off. Would I need a lot of measurements and storing power intervening repeatedly until it turns itself off, this delay could disrupt some point, because it lacks the "Point-and-Shoot" feeling of a meter rule. Especially since I do not understand what in such a device "boot" must.
Measurement
=======
The measurement is carried out quickly and reliably. A cross-check with the meter rule actually showed a maximum deviation of 2 mm, which I rather einschätze the meter stick as a cause of the inaccuracy. The measurements are also perfectly reproducible. Also surfaces with great roughness or reflective surfaces appear to be no problem for the measurement.
Bluetooth & App
============
I have, despite manual and online troubleshooting failed, should get a Bluetooth connection with one of my smartphone (Samsung S3 and S4 mini mini). The PLR is recognized by the smart phone as a Bluetooth device and is also identified in the connection wizard of the measure & Go app, a working connection does not want the app but Show.
The app itself is simply decorated and includes simple tools for recording measurements and object information. On a small smartphone but extremely fiddly to use and therefore unsatisfactory. Safe on Maxi-smartphones or tablets but an interesting way.
Unfortunately, I could find no information on whether the PLR also works with professional construction and architecture software, but I suspect not. Too bad, here there is tremendous potential. If you want to buy this device solely because of its Bluetooth functionality should previously strongly test the (free) app.
Conclusion
===
The device is intended more for the smartphone as a real estate agent for the professional craftsman. But for my purposes as a casual-yourselfer, it is wonderfully suited and a useful asset in the tool box. Because (yet) poor Bluetooth function and excessive App three out of five stars. Maybe bring a app update here an improvement.
