Bravo DG!

For one thing, a truly exciting and convincing entertaining overview gives a - still small - section of the DG's repertoire. This also helps newcomers very well as "Scoutmaster" the wonderful world of classical music.
Rather to smile, yet touchingly: Caruso, who concurrently as a "straight from tin cans", no audiophile highlight that there are numerous indeed!
There are not so very overused "classic" of the Sampler world as the "Ave Maria" or "Für Elise" (which, incidentally, is intones perfectly with this recording of W. Kempf). Rather it is the numerous sound pearls from the mainstream of the way, many of us have not heard are. As will certainly follow some reordering of the whole Tonkonserve!
It also follows herein a nice comparison pool of parallel recordings for its own portfolio.

On the other hand arises for me, as someone who is always looking for the "perfect" recordings, a low-cost way to find good and less good geratenes material.
Despite its reputation, the DG has, in my view, in its long history not only through good and sometimes excellent photographs (such as Abbado / Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique) represented, but there were also shots that were very mediocre by their sound engineer. Flat sound images, compressed dynamics frightened me too often by purchasing a DG-CD / record from. This Samplerbox you can very quickly and clearly separate the wheat from the chaff here. But the numerous piano recordings show how much you can "do" sound technology with a wing.
Or you hear only times - as some called more examples - track 13 of the CD 1. Bernstein / Candide - "Overture" to. What a wonderfully by booming momentum.
The Bartoli on track 7 / CD1 Mozart / La nozze di Figaro, what a pleasure! Love engineer, why does it not always so?
Here, connoisseurs surprising little, in 1958 there were incredibly perfect business technology: Rita Streich with G. Verdi / Lo spazzacamino! What a voice!

Small point of criticism: The booklet is unfortunately very scarce. A little more about the background of the DG would certainly fit well here.
A little tip: take the same pencil and forgive yourself once star for interpretation and recording technology. This is very helpful for reorders as an index of the 111 arts gutters sadly lacking and the whole project therefore seems a bit confusing.

My recommendation: absolutely worth buying!
