So now the most serious point for me: the memory. I have to express extreme times, I find what Asus is doing, is an impertinence. Not what because of the 1 GB is plenty almost (but the device while still surprisingly usable!), But the obstacles to the expansion memory. The cover is very laborious to remove and thereby cancel nipple without hardly possible. But what then is the real impudence: hardly an S0 latch works in the unit! Apparently Asus made just similarly incompatible with other Eee models, but there were those in the meantime BIOS update, which has eased the situation there. Since the 1015PN but then appeared and a newer date from the BIOS, I was hoping that there are fewer problems with it. Unfortunately, that was not so!
So, like other users already report here work scarcely a memory chip!
I tried the "Transcend JM1066KSU-2G DDR3 1066MHz 2GB Memory" - the 1015PN does not boot. Also, I have tested the "Kingston KVR1333D3S9 / 2G 2GB PC1333 RAM (DDR3)", also without success.
The "Kingston 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM DIMM S0 KVR1333D3S8S9 / 2G" is because of the "1R" memory organization might work, but it was not to be found.
Instead I found luckily following Crucial memory, which was advertised on the manufacturer's website with "100% Compatible with Asus Eee 1015PN": CT1539081 (Part Number: CT25664BC1339). And I can now confirm that the memory works in 1015PN!
What I found the way, nor bad: no shell and no more instructions here, but much worse, and Me also unashamedly: No virus! So no rescue system or software on CD / DVD. Instead, there is the opportunity to play a rescue system with about 16GB size of the internal hard drive to an external USB hard drive. The catch: All data on the external USB hard drive will be deleted and otherwise the USB hard drive is then also nothing else to use. I think it's really incredible. This Asus saves pennies production costs, the buyer must quasi specially still purchase an external USB hard drive and keep ready for backup.
That's why there's only 3 stars from me in the assessment, even if the device appears to be quite well otherwise.
