To ensure that the device meets my expectations, I have downloaded the PDF operating instructions of philips.de (keyword BTM5000) me before buying. The website of Philips is very good - I found the instructions immediately. It comprises 20 pages and is well done (short and simple).
The parcel delivery company brought the package with the words "finally someone buys a good device" - and actually, not bad buy! The sound is regarding. Value for money very, very good. The service is (without manual) easy and intuitive. The connection via Bluetooth to a laptop or Tablet worked right away. The iris I do not use (a matter of taste). The protective film could be easily identified and removed by the "red nipple". The footprint is not quite 62cm (length) x 21cm (depth). In the level one needs not quite 14cm. The standby power consumption is less as per the instructions 0,5Watt. With "Energy Check 3000" I have practically found no consumption in standby mode. In operation (volume 6) I have measured about 2,5Watt.
Since I have very many FM stations with the same quality of reception on the cable network, with automatic assignment the 20 presets quickly with lower frequency channels are occupied. Transmitter with higher frequency I have thus programmed manually.
In alarm setting with USB MP3 songs are played back in ascending order. (Shuffle play, tracks in random order) A reproduction in alarm with SHUF is unfortunately not possible. If USB is used without alarm, but the mode functions (REP, REP ALL, REP ALB SHUF) work fine. In addition, however, no MP4 songs can be played from a USB stick only MP3. Here, the quality of MP3 is slightly worse than playing FM or CD. When playing MP4 on the laptop and connect to the BTM5000 by BT (Bluetooth) no difference to the quality of FM or CD could be observed.
From laptop to play the way music (MP4) (while working on a laptop) via Bluethooth I had not thought of before buying. But this way I use very often now. Now makes listening to music fun again!
The timer for the Sleep function can be adjusted to the steps 120, 90, 60, 45, 30 or 15 minutes. The clock can be synchronized with RDS radio stations.
Conclusion: good equipment, good value for money, recommended!
Tip:
If the surface 3 x 21cm is too big and can be dispensed with Bluetooth, there is a better device. Better, but also a bit more expensive is the equipment RCD M39 Denon. It has the following advantages:
If the footprint It's available with or without speakers (if you already have that)
The unit has 2 x 30 watts and speakers (which are very good) 2 x 60 Watt
The control elements are on the front side (not above)
The remote control is better (Sender Selection of 1 to 9 Excluding 0 prefix)
Jack for subwoofer available
In addition, an optical input is present
There are 40 station locations (instead of 20 as in the BTM 5000)
Better display: easier to read, with a USB stick and album title in plain text (not only numbers)
Sound Bass / Treble dB values individually adjustable
Sleep timer set in 10min-steps
The sound is even better than the already very good from BTM 5000 - sound
The plant looks better (Design)
