I have admittedly not bought the 3TB version at Amazon, but wg. still present vouchers at another, stationary traders. Despite the very mixed judgments I have chosen because of the price for the WD MyCloud. I was initially very skeptical, because I wanted to use this in a mixed environment PC / MAC. I am talking mainly to an unproblematic exchange of data within the local network. Also, access to iPhone should be possible. Lo and behold, Unwrapped, plugged on Unitymedia modem firmware updated immediately downloaded latest setup programs and after a bit Rumgeklicke everything running. However, there are flaws: The MyCloud dashboard (as a web page) shows me 2.9 TB free space while the program then MyCloud per share indicates to me the amount of space. A dashboard should mE the actually existing space show. Also, I have not yet figured out how I integrate the part in the WLAN instead of driving it with LAN cable to the modem. Overall, the first start was quite simple, but the subtleties I have not yet explored. So Time Machine backup, media streaming etc. or shared folders via email à la Dropbox and Co. - is not tried. Also what should be SmartWare .... as I said, very skeptical, meanwhile satisfied.
Supplement from 2:12 .: When I myself as a test mailing me a release from WDMyCloud mail, this is indeed reliable, but when I then use the link to access the shared folder, nothing happens. The "server" is not responding. I Scour times the help pages ... because without a cloud release makes the whole thing does not really make much sense if you want to use as a substitute for Dropbox and Co. it since. SmartWare is, moreover, only for Windows, as I found out then.
