After their highly acclaimed albums "5:55" from 2006 and "IRM" 2009 (with Beck Hansen as a songwriter and producer), she focused in recent years again increased to acting and was among other things, in two films by Lars von Trier - "Antichrist" and "Melancholia" - to see. Therefore, the new publication is almost a musical comeback: "Stage Whisper" comes as a double CD and DVD, however, has a threefold insight into the work of the singer, who is reminiscent of the young Patti Smith.
The CD initially are eight previously unreleased tracks, where diverse composers seemingly austobten on latest computer software to conjure up a club sound from Electronic Beats. The coolness of the music found in the girlish voice quite a charming antipodes, where Charlotte is truly no great singer. "Paradisco" is delightfully funky, "Anna" pretty melodic and "Memoir" easier singer-songwriter pop.
This is followed by eleven live songs, performed to perfection. Also on stage will be working with a lot of electronics, but CHARLOTTE Gainsbourg's voice wins and sounds a bit more powerful, because it has to sing to the band or to next to her must be. To hear include "Heaven Can Wait", the Happy-hit in 2009, and the tender ballad "In The End" and the six year old catchy "The Songs That We Sing" and the Dylan cover "Just Like A Woman" that tickles like a butterfly wing on auditory input.
Who longs for images for live sound, can enjoy the hour-long DVD: A live recording, backed by visual effects and a lot of material "behind the scenes", so film-shots during studio work, autograph sessions and travel. Made really appealing. On stage, Charlotte Gainsbourg seems a bit shy, what suits their attitude. Besides "Merci" she does not talk much, lets the songs speak and act for themselves. She truly is no limelight, but shines with charisma and sensuality. While the singer casually times drumming something or typing on a keyboard around, they will be accompanied by five professional musicians who are fully integrated in the theater and yet show in humble restraint.
This stage whispers makes a sumptuous package great pleasure, both audibly and visually, and impressed with the diverse output of perhaps underrated artist.
