Camera well, complex, unique, but with unsatisfactory Manual

Yes, it's not for the pocket, too big, too heavy. Properly bulky with viewfinder and lens hood. Other compacts are probably easier and even smaller, but this Canon is still used as a tool, not a toy. It replaces a system camera, whom rich 12 MP, and who needs more, and for what? It replaces a system camera in image quality and the techn. Options. It replaces a system camera with focal lengths from 24mm to 120mm (KB), completely without their giant-zoom without changing lenses. However, the exemption has its limits: just between MFT and APS-C. A VF sensor with fixed focal length F2 is probably another world.

For those who used only the recording mode AUTO who wants everything from cover to cover beautifully sharp and colorful, and always, it is really too bad. But the abundance of the toothed functions slain the buyer in the first few days. And so we come to the negatives. The texts in the menus and even worse in the manual are a disgrace for us customers. A mess of imprecise terms, meaningless translations. The manual is not hierarchical. The many cross-references let us partly run entirely in the forest. Part footnotes have more text than the declaration about it. The index is patchy. Symbols used diligently in the text, are missing from the index. A complete juxtaposition of symbols and their meaning is missing. Even the search function in the Adobe Reader fails. Several times I had the Canon Service consulted. Although the answers, but at first only as lump sums, clearly only with demand. But that replaced but no sound manual!

On the camera itself annoys placing the Playback button and the S button, you can operate only with a fingernail. What is surprising also that in spite of the complex function, the possibilities for black and white are modest. The usual BW filter missing.

After a few days I have slowly the overview. But for Canon an indictment. Too bad for the really good camera. That quite a few buyers despair, I can imagine.

A few weeks later. Now more experience in practice. The handbook hardly plays a role. The reason for buying was confirmed: System camera quality with appropriate functions, but without changing lenses, without Monster Zoom.. Only the integration of the lens hood is not all right. Recommended by the manufacturer, but costs extra. A lot of money for a plastic part. How long this join in the respective latching, raises doubts. About the price of a second battery is scolded in Netzt already enough.
The DPP software is excellent. Especially in combination with RAW. When a PC is nearby, there is actually no reason for JPG. Even the manual to be ok.

Addendum 2 to weeks.
Indicative of Canon: only now I came by chance that the shutter snaps but when you put them reversed on the lens. Conversely, set up exactly with lettering above. Then rotate. Then it does not rattle, and fits so in the usual bags.
