.... Today I unpacked it, ordered Saturday night, Monday 13.00 delivered - what can I Amazon still praise, the better it gets.
The impressions of the first hour: The lens is a wonderful glass, with IS it would be like to name perfectly.
Who cares a comparison with the 24-105 which may read on for all the others, there are two alternatives: 1.) - buy the lens and each time triggering a smile in the mind or on the lips feel or 2.) - dream, save, save .... and then back to point 1) -
No seriously, the decision to invest so much Earned is not soo easy, so you can not casually make a living from it. Nevertheless, I have learned by now that half-hearted compromises at the expense of quality are not kept from me in the long run and then ultimately cost more money, nerves and time.
Back for comparison:
I do not have Siemens Stern photographed but simply a few obvious motives under nearly the same conditions (and what aperture and ISO concerned) free hand photographed and then compared.
The 24-70II beats the 25-105 IS to subject, so that is the first and also to the 1: 1 Monitor look like this. Is it not the ---- I do not know exactly - but I think I would 'price difference internally can not be justified and would be the 24-105 remained faithful. (Just to remind you, that was 24-105 and is a top objective - which I did not really separate myself in the foreseeable future)
The images are sharper, really sharp (incredible 50mm f 2.8 ISO 800 on II almost sharper than Aperture 5.6 ISO 800 at 24-105), high contrast and dissolved visibly higher (up in the corners). Brought colleague and let these values without bias - II won every comparison on the monitor.
The autofocus is much faster (and this is a huge step forward on the MKII) who feel a dream. A bit heavier, which is unusual - not too heavy.
Without the familiar IS however you noticed with horror the own restlessness in his hands ... point for the 24-105.
The diameter of the II did grow but with Geli almost identical. Thus you get the front cover is difficult abgefummelt (since there are handy alternatives), since the distance to Geli became simply less. But the combination still fits perfectly into the beloved, custom photo bags and backpacks - I had my reservations.
Test on the tripod in the autumn sun on the lens, 100 meters away Häuserfront, manual focus, ISO Fernauslöser to report 200. No decentration), all corners almost equal in sharpness and contrast. (Also at 105 all OK)
It is confirmed: the II is from 2.8 - 5.6 clear winner in terms of sharpness and resolution (only visible at 100% on the PC). From 5.6 both at the same level, very slight advantages of II the contrast. Aperture 8-16 hardly detect differences. Ergo, complete gain of some panels, which therefore come consistently ultra-sharp and contrasty. (Vermisse but IS, you get used to pretty fast)
Somewhat annoying is the fumbling mentioned when placing the front lens cover, an alternative with inside handle, however, is on the way. The lock switch is located by the way perfectly, if necessary with a finger of his right hand, which already holds the camera to operate.
Nonetheless, my decision is, I need my future much less to ask what lens should I choose that patch 24-70 / 2.8 II will be the optimal choice as a genuine "Always top" - space for other decisions. I have more space in your pack and in your wallet then ... well ...
Conclusion:
Canon has developed an excellent lens, I rate it with full 5 stars - it is probably in terms of quality and performance of the current standard in the covered zoom range. POINT!
It would even deserve when it comes to sharpness, resolution and feel a 6. And the scale scale, a really high-quality, sharp 25-105 L is truly not to be despised. The lack of stabilizer forces to more peace and more secure for the next three or monopod.
The price can not be a criterion of evaluation, which is now time, the adequacy must each with himself and his values even negotiate.
With IS the lens would be truly perfect (will probably come sometime .... determined - and then maybe starts again thinking ;-)
Much text ... in a newly published lens with this quality / price ratio, there is inevitably a lot of questions, perhaps here were a few answers to find.
