Certain images, for example group shots where you want to be seen even more, are not always easy to shoot with the built-in self-timer. I quite often make such recordings, the appointment of a remote release was near. I did not need any special features, but a simple, small and unobtrusive trigger - and this job met the RC-6 perfect. The operation is very simple and the setting on the camera also. Since the RC-6 is produced directly from Canon, the compatibility was not a problem with my EOS500D.
However, the RC-6 has two smaller restrictions: The self-timer will only work to five meters (which is often shorter than you think), and you have to aim directly at the camera so that it triggers. But if you know these two things, you can adjust it well and deal very well with the product.
