The game: After color selection game cards are alternately drawn with garden paths and streams and applied to the existing landscape in Gardens. All cards have one thing in common: each card all four colors are displayed. The goal is, as to lay the cards on the existing, that completed Beet arise, which ideally have majorities of their own color. This happens, I can one of my flowerbeds store, and get the goal - get rid of all flower beds (in total 8), a great deal closer. The only sticking points is that I have my character (gardener) about the garden paths, move up to the scale map, without skipping the character of another player. In addition I have a total of 2 pawns available. Otherwise, the plates at this point may not be applied.
Gardens is a family game. Not spectacular new but enjoyable to play - even for children under 8 years.
Material - 07
In the Brettspielbox are 1 starting tile, 8 pawns (wooden 2 x 4 colors), 96 Garden tiles, 32 tiles Flowers (8 x 4 colors), 4 special platelets
Very nicely illustrated material from sturdy cardboard, as usual in good quality Cosmos. Although flowers are certainly colored, the game might get a bit too colorful.
Getting Started - 09
A very simple game mechanic which is reminiscent of Carcassonne, is detected very quickly. Although the instructions could not be formulated a little easier, manages the start very well.
Feeling - 06
Gardens feels like Garden Carcassonne. Alternately game tiles are drawn and must be applied to the existing landscape. Different however is the lack of depth in the game. During Carcassonne, depending on the combination of various extensions, a lot of opportunities to score points, only points by majorities of beds can be achieved in Gardens. Tactical finesse comes into it by asking their own figures. Here you can prevent the enemy ever the way to platelet storage. Also tactical block is possible.
So Gardens comes with any new gaming experience, but with a new look for the player. In the game, which can be even played by younger children, creates a pleasant feeling, but without any particularly heights. The luck factor comes about pulling the cards to carry, dominated the game but not much.
Long-term fun - 06
Gardens can be good in the family - with children (so play from 6 years). In this group, the game is certainly a good alternative for one or the other game in the afternoon. For more experienced players to the game in the long run will certainly not contribute, since simply lack the tactical depth.
